10-man Shels give Waterford blues
Shelbourne 1 Waterford United 0
Steve Williams made a string of top saves as Shels played for over 80 minutes with ten men to hold on for a big win.
Shels had Richie Baker sent off after just seven minutes for appearing to strike out at Blues’ Kevin Waters.
But Waters presented Shels with the opening for the only goal nine minutes later. Waters handled David Crawley’s corner and Jason Byrne scored from the spot for his first goal of the season.
Williams then made super stops from Daryl Murphy, twice, and Willie Bruton as Shels held on to join Cork City at the top of the table.
