Doherty 'not surprised' at Waterford success

Waterford United’s on-loan defender Kevin Doherty insists that he is not surprised that the Blues are top of the League after two games.

Doherty joined Waterford on a season-long loan deal from champions Shelbourne and has been instrumental in the Blues' opening victories over Longford Town and Finn Harps, which have sent Alan Reynolds’ side to the top of the League, to the surprise of many.

Doherty said: “There’s a lot of good players here and it’s no surprise to me that we’re doing well. We’ve done well in the two games but there’s nothing to get carried away about.”
