Connor predicts ball problems for goalkeepers
Drogheda United's new goalkeeper Dan Connor believes the new Umbro Centaurus Pro football being used in the eircom League this season will give plenty of goalkeepers problems.
Connor was caught out by the swerve of the ball for Alan Murphy’s first strike in Derry City’s 2-0 victory over Drogheda on Friday night and he admits that goalkeepers are going to need plenty of work before they are used to the new ball.
“Obviously, I can’t be seen to be blaming the balls but they are totally different. They are not as heavy as last year’s ball and they do move,” he said.
“Maybe I wouldn’t have got it but then again maybe I would. It’s just one of these things and I’ll need more training with the new ball.”
