Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink claimed his 14th goal of the season to drag Middlesbrough back level in their Barclays Premiership clash with Southampton.

The Dutchman struck from close range four minutes before the break to ease the frustration of the home fans after a distinctly ordinary opening first half.

A rare goal from defender Andreas Jakobsson had given the Saints the lead, the defender firing into the empty net on 14 minutes after Henri Camara had beaten the offside trap to cross from the left.
