Thomas Sorensen committed another costly Second City derby blunder as Emile Heskey’s 52nd minute goal and a late effort from Julian Gray earned victory for Steve Bruce’s side at St Andrews.

Villa ’keeper Sorensen had been beaten by an innocuous shot from Clinton Morrison to hand Blues the first goal in the December meeting between the clubs.

And his nightmare returned when the Danish international let a shot from a narrow angle by Heskey squirm under his body. Gray wrapped up the points with a minute remaining.
