City duo sit out Spurs trip

Steve McManaman and Ben Thatcher will both miss Stuart Pearce’s first game in charge as Manchester City take on Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

McManaman has picked up a calf strain, while Thatcher is still out with the hamstring injury which forced him to miss City’s 1-0 home defeat to Bolton a fortnight ago.

Jon Macken and Nedum Onouha are back in the squad, although long-term casualties Shaun Wright-Phillips, Sun Jihai and Trevor Sinclair (all knee injuries) are still missing.
