Leeds, Gillingham charged over brawl

Leeds and Gillingham were today charged by the Football Association after the brawl which marred Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

Michael Gray and Darius Henderson were both sent off after a confrontation in the second half of the Coca-Cola Championship game.

Defender Gray, on loan from Blackburn for the rest of the season, reacted angrily to a second-half challenge from striker Henderson directly in front of the Leeds dug-out, and several players as well as coaching staff from both teams became involved.

An FA statement revealed that both clubs have been charged “for failing to ensure that their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion”.

The Championships sides have until March 30 to respond.
