Stam seals new Milan deal
Jaap Stam has extended his contract at Serie A leaders AC Milan for a further year.
The Dutch centre-back’s deal at San Siro, which was due to expire in June 2006, will now run until the end of the 2006-07 season, according to the club’s official website, www.acmilan.com.
The Rossoneri signed Stam, 32, from rivals Lazio in the summer of 2004.
He produced a commanding performance at the back to keep his former team Manchester United at bay as Milan progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 1-0 win last night to complete a 2-0 aggregate victory.
