Ronaldinho double puts tie on knife-edge
Chelsea 3 Bercelona 2 - Agg 4-4
Chelsea raced into a three-goal lead inside 18 sensational minutes before a brace from Brazilian ace Ronaldinho left the Blues’ hopes of a place in the last eight on a knife-edge.
Chelsea, trailing 2-1 from the first leg and labelled ’boring’ by some of the Barca players in the build-up to the game, stunned the La Liga leaders with an eighth-minute strike from Eidur Gudjohnsen and efforts from Frank Lampard (16) and Damien Duff (18).
But referee Pierluigi Collina handed the Spaniard a lifeline by awarding a penalty against Paulo Ferreira in the 26th minute which was duly converted by Ronaldinho, who 12 minutes later produced a moment of magic with a 20-yard shot which left Cech flat-footed.
