Chelsea have moved to fill the position vacated by Neil Frazer by naming Brian English as their new club doctor.

English is a former senior doctor for UK Athletics and will fill the void at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season.

He appeared on the Chelsea bench in Saturday’s win at Everton and has now been confirmed in the position on a short-term basis.

The lifelong Chelsea fan has worked with UK Athletics at both the Sydney and Athens Olympics and held the position of chief medical officer.

Frazer stepped down from his duties at Stamford Bridge on February 5 because of ill health.

Although reports claimed he had stood aside because of a difference of opinion with Jose Mourinho, Chelsea have insisted the separation was amicable.
