Burnley may lost out in battle for Akinbiyi

Burnley manager Steve Cotterill fears he could lose out in his bid to sign Ade Akinbiyi after claiming Stoke have accepted a bid for the striker from another club.

The 30-year-old is the Potters’ top scorer this season and is known to have attracted interest from Wigan and Sheffield United.

Cotterill revealed: “We have made a bid for the player which we believe is higher than what the other clubs made.

“They may have a few more incentives in the deal though. However, I’ve spoken to the chairman though and they have since had a bid from another club which has been accepted, so we’ll have to wait and see,” he told the club’s official website, www.burnleyfootballclub.com.
