Coventry make double swoop

Coventry manager Micky Adams has strengthened his squad with a double signing.

The Sky Blues have captured Northampton striker Trevor Benjamin, who has joined the Highfield Road club until the end of the season from Northampton where he was less than a month into his contract.

Goalkeeper Ian Bennett has joined on a month’s loan from Birmingham. Both players go straight into the squad for Saturday’s clash with Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Benjamin’s career began at Cambridge with the 26-year-old having previously played under Adams at Leicester.

He can also boast loan spells at Crystal Palace, Norwich, West Brom, Gillingham, Rushden and Brighton, before joining the Cobblers, initially on a one-month loan, in December.

Adams, whose side are fourth bottom in the Championship, said: “We’re delighted to have secured another two players for the squad.”
