Dolan to stick with Cork City

Cork City boss Pat Dolan today rubbished talk linking him with Limerick FC.

The City supremo, just back from a 10-day trip to England, said that he has not received an approach from Danny Drew’s side.

“I have had no dealings with Limerick whatsoever. I have had no approach from them and I haven’t met with anyone from the club.

“I am at a loss to know where these stories are coming from but then I cannot stop people writing such rubbish either,” Dolan told the Evening Echo.

“I am only interested in Cork City FC and I want to try and move the club forward and build on the success we had last year.

“I want us to be as consistent as we can be again and to continue to be the form team in the new season.

“I want us to try and win the Championship this year and that’s all that interests me. I am only interested in Cork City and the betterment of the football club,” he added this morning.

Cork were forced to pull out of a planned two-day trip to the University of Limerick over the weekend because of a referee’s seminar on campus.

City now have plans to go to UL next weekend or the week after as they resumed training for the season at Bishopstown on Saturday and yesterday.

Cork had 23 players at both sessions over the weekend.

Cork have 19-year-old Sligo Rovers striker Gino O’Boyle in on a week’s trial and he will train with the squad all week.

The deadline for signing cross-channel players is close of business today but the eircom League deadline is March 4. The closure of the transfer window means that Cork will only be able to sign ‘out of contract’ players from tomorrow.
