Palace have to wait for Patino

River Plate have rejected an offer from Crystal Palace for midfielder Jairo Patino, but the player’s agent is confident negotiations will continue in June.

Crystal Palace offered €4m for the Colombian international, but River Plate decided to keep him for the Copa Libertadores.

“It is a big satisfaction for me that an English team came for me because I dream of playing in the Premier League. But my big wish now is being successfully in River,” Patino said.

“I love English football. I always watch it on TV and I see myself playing there. I am sure I will do it some day.”

Patino’s agent, Marcelo Betnaza, said: “The decision now was to turn down the offer, but the doors are open to talk again in June.”
