Chaplow move to Albion breaks down

Richard Chaplow’s proposed move to West Brom is “dead”, according to Burnley chairman Brian Kilby.

Kilby has revealed he has received no further contact from the Baggies about the 19-year-old midfielder, who was linked with a move to The Hawthorns in a deal worth £500,000 (€721,600) plus James O’Connor and Rob Hulse.

The England Under-21 star has only played three games since returning from a three-month lay-off with a knee injury but was impressive in the Clarets’ 1-0 FA Cup third-round success against Liverpool.

Kilby said: “I spoke to Jeremy Peace (WBA chairman) last Thursday to tell him our valuations are miles apart and since then I’ve heard nothing.

“Obviously there’s still a chance of them coming back in with another offer, but they are well aware that we do not want to sell Richard and as far as I’m concerned that one’s dead.”
