Fernando Morientes today set his sights on making an immediate impression against Manchester United after revealing he turned down Champions League rivals Lyon in favour of a move to Liverpool.

The Spanish international is set to complete his move to the Barclays Premiership after Real Madrid accepted a £6.3m (€9m) bid from the Reds for his services.
