Morrison wants Savage to stay
Birmingham striker Clinton Morrison believes it is vital that want-away midfielder Robbie Savage remains with the Midlands club.
Savage wants to quit Blues and move to a club in the north west so he can be nearer to his ill mother and father who live in Wrexham.
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has rejected Savage’s transfer request and insisted that Blackburn, the main contenders for his signature, will have to meet Blues’ £3.5m (€5m) valuation of the player.
Savage was left out of Tuesday’s Barclays Premiership clash with Bolton and did not attend the weekend FA Cup meeting with Leeds for which he was suspended after incurring five bookings.
But Morrison wants Birmingham and Savage to resolve their difference and for the Welsh international to stay at St Andrews.
Morrison said: “All the players and fans would like to see Robbie Savage stay at Blues. He is a big player for us.
“It is up to Robbie and the club to sort it out but he is a great talent and I hope he does come off the transfer list and stays here because we do miss him when he isn’t playing.
“Maybe we didn’t miss him against Leeds but in the big games we really miss him because he gets us going.”
Bruce felt Savage was not in the right frame of mind to face Bolton just 24 hours after handing in a written transfer request.
But he will assess the mood of Savage in training during the next few days before deciding whether to consider him for Saturday’s game at Charlton.
