Maybury completes move to Foxes
Ireland international full-back Alan Maybury has completed a move from Hearts to Leicester City today.
Leicester unveiled manager Craig Levein’s first signings of his Foxes career, with Alan Maybury and Mark de Vries moving to the Walkers Stadium from Hearts.
The Tynecastle pair have joined the Foxes on three-and-a-half-year deals which will keep them at City until the summer of 2008.
A fee Leicester have described as “nominal” but which is reported to be between £60,000 (€85,000) and £100,000 (€142,000) was agreed for the pair who settled personal terms after a medical at Walkers Stadium yesterday.
Levein said: “Both players will be major new additions to our squad and we’re at a stage of a season where we need to change things around a little, so their arrival could not be better timed.
“I’ve worked with Alan and Mark at Hearts and I’m confident they’ll bring a lift to everyone connected with Leicester City.”
Maybury, a Republic of Ireland international who has started 24 games for Hearts this season, said: “We are not a short-term fix. The boss is trying to build something here as he did at Hearts and it is going to be good to be a part of it.”
Maybury added: "The move all happened so fast but I am looking forward to it. I know the coaches, Peter Houston and Kenny Black, as well and it is important to play for people who have confidence in your ability and like your style of play."
Dutch striker de Vries, 29, scored 34 goals in 90 matches.
“Our aim is to bring success to Leicester and try to get them back into the Premiership,” de Vries said.
