Bolton: No evidence Diouf spat at fans

Bolton have declared the alleged spitting incident involving El-Hadji Diouf during the 2-1 victory over Birmingham closed.

Diouf found himself the subject of complaints from Blues fans over an alleged incident when celebrating after scoring the opening goal. Statements were taken from fans by stewards at half-time.

A Birmingham official then informed match referee Uriah Rennie.

However both clubs have agreed to drop the matter.

A statement on the official Bolton website, wwwbwfc.co.uk, read: “Bolton Wanderers Football Club has been in contact with Birmingham City today regarding the alleged spitting incident involving El-Hadji Diouf.

“Birmingham city have confirmed they have received no complaints and the stadium’s CCTV system has no evidence of the allegation. Both clubs will not be taking further action and the matter is now closed.”

Diouf has been involved in two previous spitting incidents and has been playing for his Premiership future while on loan from Liverpool.
