Norwich will give late fitness tests to Mattias Jonson, Thomas Helveg and Simon Charlton ahead of the trip to Portsmouth on New Year’s Day.

Jonson and Helveg have both been suffering from concussion, while full-back Charlton missed the defeat at Middlesbrough on Tuesday because of a dead leg.

All three are rated as “touch and go” by boss Nigel Worthington. Jim Brennan is on stand-by to start in midfield.

Damien Francis has resumed full training following his fractured cheekbone but is unlikely to make a swift return at Fratton Park.

Mathias Svensson (knee), Darren Ward (knee), Ian Henderson (heel), Gary Holt (lung infection) and Youssef Safri (ankle) are still definitely out.

Youngsters Rossi Jarvis, Adam Smith and Danny Crow will all travel, while England under-19 striker Ryan Jarvis could be in line for another start.

Provisional squad: Green, Edworthy, Doherty, Fleming, Drury, McVeigh, Helveg, Mulryne, Bentley, McKenzie, Huckerby, Brennan, Shackell, Gallacher, Ryan Jarvis, Rossi Jarvis, Smith, Crow, Lewis.
