Wenger: We have focus back
Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal have got their focus back – and has called on his players to keep their eye on the ball when they face Portsmouth in the Barclays Premiership at Fratton Park tomorrow.
The Gunners have seen their form dip somewhat since losing their incredible 49-game unbeaten league run at the end of October when going down to Manchester United. The champions have also lost their advantage at the top of the table as Chelsea have opened up a five-point lead at the summit.
However, Wenger’s side put in an improved showing when beating Birmingham and then thrashing Rosenborg to secure their place in the last 16 of the Champions League. And after a battling performance in the 2-2 draw with Jose Mourinho’s side on Sunday, Wenger feels his squad are beginning to play with some confidence again.
“I feel we have had three good performances and that should be a good ground to help us get back where we were before,” reflected Wenger when speaking to Arsenal PLUS, on the official club website, www.arsenal.com.
“The team has belief back, it just now depends how we keep the focus in every game. I feel having such a dip and not being so far from Chelsea, it is down now to us.”
