Tottenham head coach Martin Jol was today facing an anxious wait to discover whether Robbie Keane and Thimothee Atouba will be available to face Manchester City.

Atouba was contesting a Football Association charge of violent conduct following a clash with Blackburn’s Paul Dickov.

Keane is a major doubt after suffering a knee injury but Jol was to make a final decision after training this afternoon.

If Keane is out and with Jermain Defoe suspended, Frederic Kanoute would be Tottenham’s only available first-team striker. Jol indicated he might start with Kanoute as a lone striker in front of a five-man midfield with perhaps Michael Brown pushed forward.

Left winger Reto Ziegler is out with a hamstring strain while Simon Davies is still a few weeks off a first team return as he recovers from a virus.

Goran Bunjevcevic and Erik Edman both returned to training this week.

Provisional squad: Robinson, Pamarot, King, Davenport, Kelly, Naybet, Gardner, Jackson, Atouba, Ricketts, Pedro Mendes, Carrick, Redknapp, Brown, Keane, Kanoute, Defoe, Fulop.
