Campbell agrees new Arsenal deal
Sol Campbell today revealed that he has agreed to sign a new long-term contract at Arsenal.
The England defender is expecting to tie up a few loose ends over the next couple of weeks before making an official announcement.
However, the 30-year-old centre-back is already looking forward to spending the next three or four years with the Gunners.
Campbell revealed: āItās all agreed. There are just a few things left to sort out. Most of them are already sorted out, itās just the legal technicalities.
āMost things are done. Thereās just a little bit of organising to do. Iām here now and itās fine, Iām happy with it.ā
Campbell has agreed to a wage reduction, given that he was awarded a huge signing-on fee spread over his previous contract following his Bosman free move from Tottenham.
However, he was looking for Arsenal to give him the long-term security that he wanted to ensure he could stay at the club for most, if not all, of the rest of his career.
āIf Iām here for a long time, then I couldnāt really see myself playing for someone else,ā he said.
āBut who knows? If Iām 35 or 36 and Iāve still got the desire, then who can say?ā
