AZ continue winning ways

AZ Alkmaar’s dream season shows no sign of slowing up after Co Adriaanse’s men maintained their shock title challenge with a comfortable 2-0 defeat of ADO Den Haag this afternoon.

The win, which came courtesy of goals from Martijn Meerdink and Ali Elkhattabi, means Rangers’ UEFA Cup conquerors return to within five points of leaders PSV Eindhoven, who beat De Graafschap 4-0 yesterday.

Feyenoord got their Eredivisie title challenge back on track today with a narrow 2-1 home win over NEC Nijmegen.

The Rotterdam giants had slipped to fourth and 14 points adrift of PSV following a run of three league matches without a victory – but Ruud Gullit’s troops returned to winning ways thanks to Salomon Kalou’s late winner against NEC.

Edgar Barreto had earlier scored a 43rd-minute equaliser to cancel out Dirk Kuijt’s early opener for Feyenoord.
