Zola double too much for Chievo

Former Chelsea striker Gianfranco Zola scored twice as Cagliari beat Chievo 4-2 in Serie A to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

In a week when Zola found himself in the centre of controversy surrounding his comments about the Juventus trial verdict, the former Parma and Chelsea star let his feet do the talking as he tore Chievo apart.

The 38-year-old put the hosts in control with two goals – one from the penalty spot – in the space of five first-half minutes.

Another former Stamford Bridge favourite, Sam Dalla Bona, netted from the penalty spot as Lecce beat Livorno 3-2 – while former West Brom midfielder Enzo Maresca got the only goal of the game in Fiorentina’s win over Bologna.

At the top of the table, Juventus came from behind to beat Lazio 2-1 and move four points clear of second-placed AC Milan.
