El-Hadji Diouf has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association after spitting at Arjan de Zeeuw during Bolton’s Barclays Premiership match against Portsmouth.

The 23-year-old was spotted committing the offence during Saturday’s fixture at the Reebok Stadium – but players’ chief Gordon Taylor has since recommended that a sense of perspective be applied to the situation if and when it comes to punishing the Bolton forward.
