Murphy Waterford fans' Player of the Year

Republic of Ireland U21 striker Daryl Murphy has been named Player of the Year by Waterford United’s Independent Blues Supporters' Club.

Murphy finished the Blues’ top scorer in 2004 with 22 goals, a tally which not only earned him international recognition from Irish U21 boss Don Givens but attracted reported interest from Manchester United and Ipswich Town scouts.

The supporters' club also presented awards to PJ Banville as U21 player of the year and Willie Bruton, whose FAI Cup Final strike was deemed Goal of the Season.
