Racist taunting hits Madrid Olympic chances
Madrid's odds of hosting the Olympic Games in 2012 have widened from 8/1 to 10/1 in the wake of last night’s racial abuse at the England v Spain clash.
Totesport went on to shorten the odds on Paris, the current favourite, to 4/11. Paul Petrie, from totesport, said: “The Spain v England game was beamed all round the world and there has been condemnation from different areas of the sporting community.
“Last night’s events will not have helped the city’s 2012 Olympic Bid chances and therefore the price has been pushed out.”
London is now priced at 5/2 while Moscow is the outsider at 50/1 and New York set at 16/1.
