Whelehan rescues draw for Blues

Ben Whelehan salvaged a point for Waterford from a match they seemed destined to lose.

Blues had defender David Breen sent off following an off the ball clash with Town’s Graham Gartland on the hour mark.

The game then seemed up when Eric Lavine stooped to head home Stephen Paisley’s cross to give Town the lead on 68 minutes.

But Blues hit back ten minutes from time to earn their point when Kevin Waters got space down the right to cross and Whelehan volleyed past Mick Dempsey.
