Longford back in Livi trial
Out-of-favour Longford Town centre-back Brian McGovern is having a trial with Scottish Premier League side Livingston.
McGovern, a former Arsenal and Norwich City defender and FAI Cup winner with the midlanders in 2003, has been sidelined by Longford manager Alan Matthews since the summer following a disagreement.
The 24-year-old, who almost signed for Livingston in 2002, has been brought in by manager Allan Preston with a view to a permanent move following the club’s emergence from administration.
Livingston have conceded nine goals in their last two games, five to Motherwell and four to Rangers, and Preston is looking to stem the tide.
