Pablo no-go for Preston
Preston manager Billy Davies has failed in a loan swoop for Ipswich forward Pablo Counago.
The 25-year-old Spaniard has started just three league matches for the Tractor Boys this season and was targeted by Davies, who has had to cope with losing both Ricardo Fuller and David Healy this season.
Davies has also missed out on moves for Tranmere’s Iain Hume and Scott Dobie, who decided to join Millwall, in the past week.
Ipswich boss Joe Royle told the club’s website, www.itfc.co.uk: “Preston have been onto us about Pablo and asked to take him on a month’s loan.
“I thought it would be good for him to get some regular first-team football under his belt but Pablo said no to the move.
“That’s the end of it as far as we’re concerned and he’ll be in contention for Saturday’s game against Leeds.”
