FA rap for Keegan

Manchester City manager Kevin Keegan has been fined £8,500 (€12,200) and received a reprimand from the Football Association for his foul-mouthed tirade at referee Steve Dunn on October 24.

Keegan had previously admitted an FA charge of using ‘abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour’ to Dunn for his handling of City 4-3 Premiership defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park.

The former England coach claimed Dunn had given a string of major decisions against his men and while the FA decided not to take action over his controversial post-match interviews, even Keegan himself admitted his face-to-face tunnel tirade at the official had gone too far.

However, the FA appear to have taken Keegan’s previously impeccable disciplinary record into account in handing down such a modest fine.
