Disgraced striker Adrian Mutu will learn his fate this week.

Disgraced striker Adrian Mutu will learn his fate this week.

The Football Association will decide his punishment at a disciplinary hearing on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Romanian skipper was sacked by Chelsea last Friday for failing a drugs test and has insisted he will accept any punishment from the FA without appeal.

Mutu though, signed from Parma for £15.8m (€22.8m) in 2003, is unhappy with a number of stories claiming he played with the drug in his system and is preparing to take legal action.

The FA are likely to impose a ban between six months and two years as punishment for his drug-taking while the player has already been receiving help from the Sporting Chance Clinic for his problem.
