Rovers v Waterford United game postponed
Tonight's clash between Waterford United and Shamrock Rovers has been postponed due to flooding. It is provisionally rescheduled for Sunday at 2pm.
Shamrock Rovers will be hoping good news off the pitch can convert to a first victory for nearly three months when they travel to Waterford United.
Rovers were celebrating yesterday when businessman Conor Clarkson joined the board as a major shareholder, paving the way for the completion of its long-awaited Tallaght Stadium and an end to a stand-off between board and players over outstanding payments.
With an end to those problems in sight, the Hoops can also welcome back Dave Mooney and Trevor Molloy to the fold following suspensions which forced them out of last week’s game with Drogheda.
Manager Noel Synott will still be without Stephen Grant and Liam Kelly but at least midfielder Paul Caffrey and defender Jason McGuinness can stand down from their stand-in striker roles.
There are problems between the posts though with both Noel Mooney and Russell Payne doubtful starters, which could mean a first appearance for U21 goalkeeper Barry Murphy.
Waterford United player-boss Alan Reynolds is likely to venture no further that the technical area at the RSC as he is carrying a knee injury following last Sunday’s cup final defeat.
