Longford Town back in action

Cup kings Longford Town return to eircom League action tonight with a return trip to Dublin to face St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park (7.45pm).

While relegation is technically still a threat to both sides, bottom club Dublin City are 13 points adrift and both Saints and Longford require only two points to ensure their status as premier division sides for another season.

Five days after pouncing at the death to claim the FAIreland Cup from Waterford United at Lansdowne Road for the second year in succession, Longford could welcome back skipper Barry Ferguson, who missed the showpiece game through suspension.

Dessie Baker could miss out through injury tonight so Lansdowne’s late match winner Paul Keegan could claim a starting role in attack.

St Pat’s are again without left back Dessie Byrne due to a hamstring injury.
