Everton in second spot with win over Norwich
FT Norwich 2 Everton 3
Everton moved up to second in the Barclays Premiership with a 3-2 win at Norwich, but were made to work for their victory at Carrow Road.
First-half goals from Kevin Kilbane and Marcus Bent had put the visitors in control, before Leon McKenzie and Damien Francis pulled Norwich level.
However, a header from substitute Duncan Ferguson made sure of the three points and left the Canaries still without a win in the Premiership.
The hosts could have hit back straight away when Huckerby’s cutback found McKenzie 10 yards out, but he fired over.
David Weir was cautioned for what looked only a slight kick out at McKenzie, before Martyn flapped at a cross and Francis saw his goalbound effort cannon off Carsley’s chest, with the home crowd calling for a penalty.
Worthington went for broke in the final 10 minutes, bringing Doherty on for Jonson and Bentley for McKenzie.
Svensson flashed a drive wide, but Norwich could not fashion an equaliser and remain without a league win now in 10 matches.
