Defoe dropped to bench
Tottenham manager Jacques Santini dropped England striker Jermain Defoe to the bench today as his side faced Bolton at White Hart Lane.
Defoe had not scored in the Barclays Premiership since netting the winner against Birmingham in the fourth game of the season. Frederic Kanoute was brought in to partner Robbie Keane up front for the home side.
Skipper Jamie Redknapp returned from suspension and replaced Michael Brown in midfield, while Johnnie Jackson came in for the injured Thimothee Atouba.
Bolton captain Jay-Jay Okocha returned to the starting line-up. He replaced Ivan Campo who was injured in a sickening clash of heads with Gary Speed last week in the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Former Spurs striker Les Ferdinand was on the bench for the visitors.
