Ormerod set for busy weekend
Striker Brett Ormerod is available to bolster Southampton head coach Steve Wigley’s limited options in attack for their Premiership game against Birmingham on Sunday.
Ormerod is due to play his final game of a one-month loan at Leeds against Brighton on Saturday but could play two games in 24 hours with 18-year-olds Leon Best and Dexter Blackstock Wigley’s only fit strikers.
Kevin Phillips has been ruled out by a calf strain while James Beattie, Peter Crouch and Marian Pahars are all sidelined with long-term problems.
Former England left back Graeme Le Saux and Northern Ireland defender Chris Baird face late fitness tests on knee and ankle injuries.
