Anxious wait for Atouba

Tottenham midfielder Thimothee Atouba has an anxious wait to discover the extent of his knee injury.

Atouba was stretchered off 11 minutes from the end of Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat against Portsmouth on Monday night.

Atouba had a scan yesterday and will know the results within the next 24 hours.

Spurs Physio Dean Kenneally said: “Atouba took a ligament injury on the inside of his knee.

“He went for a scan this morning and we’ll be able to assess the full extent of it in a couple of days.

“When someone gets a knock like that there are often two or three structures that can be a bit sore and tender and it often takes a couple of days to assess it fully.”
