Doyle a doubt for Cork City

Cork City will be hoping FAIreland Cup finalists Longford Town have their minds on the weekend’s big game when they visit Flancare Park tonight for a rearranged eircom League encounter.

The game was originally scheduled for July 17 but postponed due to the clubs’ respective European commitments and the fixture now falls just five days before Longford face Waterford United at Lansdowne Road in the showpiece game of the season.

Longford captain Barry Ferguson is suspended for the final but could also miss out tonight through injury having failed to prove fit for last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Shamrock Rovers.

Defender Alan Murphy will definitely be missing though following his sending off in that match.

Cork City midfielder Colin O’Brien is still missing from Pat Dolan’s line-up as he recovers from a dislocated shoulder and there is a doubt over in-form Ireland Under-21 striker Kevin Doyle, who faces a late test on a calf injury picked up in the 4-1 win at Waterford on Friday night.

Doyle, with three goals in his last four games, would be a big loss but Neale Fenn and Dennis Behan stand by as possible replacements.
