Derry ease relegation fears as Drogheda slide
Derry City 1 Drogheda United 0
A goal after just two minutes from Mark Farren eased Derry’s lingering relegation fears as Drogheda's remarkable slide continued with a fourth league defeat on the spin.
Farren's goal came from the second corner of the night as the Drogheda defence stood indicted.
Killian Brennan sent over the flag kick and nobody picked up Farren, who headed past Tony O’Dowd, one of five changes in the Drogheda side.
Derry keeper David Forde then made a terrific 88th minute save from Mark Rooney to deprive Drogheda of a point.
