Reyna to miss two World Cup qualifiers
The United States will be without captain Claudio Reyna for the World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Panama.
Coach Bruce Arena has named a 23-man squad ahead of the games, but left out the Manchester City midfielder after he suffered a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury.
Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel is also missing despite some excellent performances in the Barclays Premiership.
Arena has instead kept faith with two goalkeepers who have both been dropped by their clubs – Manchester United’s Tim Howard and Tottenham’s Kasey Keller.
There are also places in the squad for Reading’s Bobby Convey, Fulham’s Carlos Bocanegra and Brian McBride and Preston’s Eddie Lewis.
