Sullivan to miss Blues' semi-final clash

Vinny Sullivan will have to sit out Waterford United’s FAI Cup semi-final against Derry City on Friday night due to suspension.

Sullivan picked up the one-match ban issued on Wednesday as a result of his sending off in the quarter-final replay against Rockmount on September 15.

The Waterford player, who had come on as a 36th-minute substitute against the Munster Senior League side to make his comeback from long-term injury, was dismissed in the 76th minute by referee Anthony Buttimer for dissent.

Blues boss Alan Reynolds also has injury concerns for the trip north to the Brandywell with defenders Pat Purcell suffering from ankle ligament damage and Ben Whelehan nursing a hamstring problem.

There are also suspensions issued by the eircom League Disciplinary Commission on Wednesday which are effective from October 13.

Drogheda duo Alan Reilly and Danny O'Connor and Colin O'Brien of Cork City each reached four penalty points and will serve one-match bans. The Drogs' pair will miss the trip to Derry City on Thursday, October 14, while O’Brien will be absent from the Leesiders’ midfield when Cork travel to Waterford for a Munster derby the following night.
