Nunez misses six more weeks
Antonio Nunez’s Liverpool debut has been put back further after the Spanish midfielder was told he is likely to be out for another six weeks.
Nunez joined Liverpool from Real Madrid last month as part of the deal which saw Michael Owen move in the opposite direction but injured a knee in his first training session.
The 25-year-old initially thought he would be out for four weeks but the injury is more serious than first thought and he has now undergone keyhole surgery to determine the extent of the problem.
Club spokesman Ian Cotton said: “Antonio had the operation earlier today and we’re pleased to say it was a complete success. He will be out for another six weeks.”
