Davis and Carrick fail to make return

Midfielders Sean Davis and Michael Carrick will sit out Spurs’ trip to Oldham as they continue on their road to recovery.

Davis is two weeks away from a return to action following a knee injury, while Carrick faces a similar spell on the sidelines with an ankle problem.

Mauricio Taricco is unlikely to recover in time from an ankle knock of his own, while Thimothee Atouba is another serious doubt after sustaining a leg injury at Chelsea on Sunday.

Winger Simon Davies is in line to feature after emerging unscathed through his first Premiership start of the season at Stamford Bridge.
