Shelbourne skipper Owen Heary has been named as the eircom/Soccer Writers' Association Player of the Month for August.

Shelbourne skipper Owen Heary has been named as the eircom/Soccer Writers' Association Player of the Month for August.

Heary claimed the award ahead of strong claims from Waterford United hot-shot Daryl Murphy and Drogheda United striker Declan O'Brien, thanks to his inspirational captaincy last month.
