Diego Maradona was rushed to hospital in the early hours of today, according to reports in Argentina.

The former World Cup winner is currently undergoing lengthy treatment to cure a long-standing drug problem at the Del Parque Clinic in Buenos Aires but a high temperature and pulmonary pains meant he had to be transferred to a hospital, believed to be the Suizo Argentino.

He was later allowed to return to the Del Parque.

Maradona is waiting for a permit to continue his drug rehabilitation in Cuba. His transferral has been approved by one judge but further legal steps are necessary.

The captain of Argentina’s 1986 success in Mexico spent time in the Suizo Argentino in April and May of this year after suffering breathing and cardiac problems.
