Baker hat-trick gives Longford win

Dessie Baker hit a stunning hat-trick as Longford jumped two places in the table with a third league win on the spin.

Baker’s first wonder goal came on 33 minutes when he collected a short free-kick from Alan Kirby to beat Pat Jennings with a low 30-yard shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The second arrived four minutes into the second half. Dean Fitzgerald put Baker in and he somehow found the far corner from the tightest of angles.

Eight minutes from time Baker confidently drilled home Sean Prunty’s pull back to complete his wonderful treble.
