Why I snubbed Gunners - Angulo

Valencia midfielder Miguel Angulo today revealed why he snubbed a move to Arsenal.

Valencia midfielder Miguel Angulo today revealed why he snubbed a move to Arsenal.

The 27-year-old had the chance to move to Highbury on a four-year contract on transfer deadline day – but chose to stay at the Mestalla, signing a new contract.

Angulo said a sudden change of heart – and a desire to finish his career at Valencia – made him pull out of the deal, even though he had completed the first part of his medical with the Barclays Premiership champions.

“I am happy to be here again,” he said on returning to his homeland.

“I have taken a decision that is very good for me and now we’ll have to see what happens.

“It was a decision that was totally personal and had nothing to do with either money or sport; it was just that my heart told me that Valencia was my home and that I had to return.

“I took notice of the feelings that I had. I didn’t see things clearly, I had a lot of doubts and I started to think with my heart.”
