Vikings duo join Monaghan
Dublin City defensive duo Keith Foy and Barry Burke have signed for Monaghan United.
Monaghan boss Mick Cooke, whose side is bottom of the first division, snapped up the players after they were transfer-listed in a 15-man clearout by Vikings manager Roddy Collins.
Foy, 22, is a former Irish Under-21 international and was a member of Brian Kerr’s European Championship-winning U16 side in 1998.
He started out at Nottingham Forest before returning to Ireland last year to sign for St Patrick’s Athletic and then moving again during the winter to Dublin City.
Both Foy and Burke will be thrown straight into the first division basement battle when Monaghan travel to fellow strugglers Athlone Town on Friday night.
Another Vikings player to find a new club on transfer deadline day was 19-year-old former Derby County defender Christopher Deans, who signed for Dundalk.
